After the Winter was by far Henry George’s most successful exhibition to date. Sales reflected the incredible interest in this exciting collection of new work from established and emerging artists from KZN and Johannesburg. Wonder Buhle Mbambo, Mthobisi Brian Maphumulo, Andrew Orapeleng Ntshabele, Thando Makhosini Ngwenya, Pascale Chandler and Jane Digby’s new works generated huge enthusiasm. News spread via social media and word-of-mouth and brought a steady stream of visitors throughout the show. By Saturday the 5th, the sun was still hiding away, but we flew a huge yellow balloon outside the gallery. And people came. On the walk-about artists talked about the inspiration behind their work and then got busy “doodling” with children, moms and dads who turned out to support the 1000 Drawings initiative. Works from the show now hang happily in homes as nearby as Parkhurst and as far Netherlands. Well done and thank you to all. We wish Wonder the best of luck for his upcoming residency in Germany.
