Anton Burger creates these unique works of art by painstakingly glueing tiny glass beads, one by one, onto the surfaces. Each work takes weeks, or sometimes months, to complete.
The artist sources the skulls and horns in the “Bushveld” and Karoo areas and takes care to use only skulls and horns from animals which died a natural death. He finds his “canvasses” on farms, and in the bush and plains of South Africa, and restores some beauty to these once magnificent animals.
Anton was inspired by the Ndebele beadwork found in the Northern regions of South Africa, but his designs are mostly influenced by Western art, skilfully combining two worlds in one object of beauty.
